ON 100 ACRES OF WELL ROTTED STUBBLE

IN DEDDINGTON, OXFORDSHIRE 

We have our 1st MDG/LP adventure of 2020 lined up for the Sunday the 26th and with 2 new fields  that we have never searched before in the line up along with 4 others fields that the MDG members searched one around 1 year ago with finds being made on the day being mainly roman and medieval/post medieval. The day in question was incredibly wet and did not give the MDG members the best search conditions on that day so many of the 4 previously searched fields will still hold a great deal of potential for finds. 

There are several recorded roman features close by as well as Iron Age hill fort, castle and lots more fantastic history in the area and great potential for finds in the fields around Deddington.

Previous digs around the village have given many treasure finds (mainly medieval & post medieval gold & Silver rings, brooches and strap ends) a few Bronze Age finds, Iron Age coins, Medieval coins and artefacts, point medieval coins and artefacts and lots and lots of victorian / Georgian finds + the usual suspects.

If you do some research on Deddington and the area you will discover a vast and rich history, you can even find all the old field names for the village and the area with a quick google search.

HOT & COLD FOOD:

T.B.C. - BUT WE SHOULD HAVE OUR FRIENDLY PROVIDER OF REFRESHMENTS IN ATTENDANCE ON THE DAY TO PROVIDE US ALL WITH HOT AND COLD FOOD FOR THE DAY.

LP DETECTING WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE ON THE DAY TO CATER FOR ALL YOUR METAL DETECTING NEEDS AND REQUIREMENTS - DONT FORGET YOU CAN PRE ORDER ITEMS FOR COLLECTION FROM THE MDG/LP DEDDINGTON DIG.

OK AS LONG AS WELL BEHAVED AND MESS IS CLEANED UP (ON LEADS IF REQUIRED)

PLEASE SHARE YOUR FINDS WITH US SO WE CAN PHOTOGRAPH THEM FOR A DIG REPORT.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU DIG AND FILL YOUR HOLES TO A HIGH STANDARD.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE UNWANTED FINDS FROM THE FIELDS TO THE SCRAP BUCKET OR NEAREST HEDGEROW.

PLEASE LEAVE THE SITE CLEAN AND TIDY AND TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU.
